Mabon: Celebrating the abundance of the Autumn Equinox

Mabon: Celebrating the abundance of the Autumn Equinox

2 minute read

As the nights draw in, we celebrate the abundance of the harvest and step into the more reflective and cosy season of Autumn.

Celebrated on 22 September, Mabon is the Autumn Equinox, when the day is as long as the night. This festival is all about feeling gratful for all we have, gathering natures bounty to see us through the colder months and celebrating how far we have come. For me this time of year has always brought clarity with the cripsness in the air and nights drawing in brushing away the sometimes hectic nature of summer.

So this Mabon seems the perfect time to highlight one of my collections I am most proud of -  The Bramble Collection, which is full of the seasonal colour of blackberries, raspberries, loganberries and bramble blossoms. This year especially I have loved admiring the beauty of these humble, abundant fruits and harvesting the juicy berries to add to my morning porridge.

For me, brambles represent the resilience of nature that can be found in all of us. They adapt and grow into their environment.  Having just moved house, this Autumn equinox has come at the perfect time for me - to say goodbye to the old and welcome in a new season of change. As I look out on the trees heavy with apples and pears, it reminds me that nature prevails and provides at the right time for us. I look forward to feasting on natures harvest with freinds, lighting a fire and celebrating all I've acheived this year so far.

Celebrate Mabon in your own way

This collection and this season symbolise the the delight of hunkering down into cosiness for the winter. Whether it's foraging for brambles and making jams or a crumble, or perhaps indulging in switching light summer sheets for cosier autumn blankets, there are lots of ways you can honour the season in your own way.

And, of course, I hope you'll check out my new bramble collection to wear and honour the abundance of the season!
